Applesauce Raisin Cookies
This is one of my favorite cookie recipe from Grandma Prather
A. Cover about 2 cups of raisins with water and boil for 5
minutes and then drain and cool. Preheat
oven to 375 F.

B. Cream in a large
bowl:
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
Then add 2 eggs and stir again
C. In a separate bowl
mix:
2 c. applesauce
2 tsp. soda
It will start to foam.
D. Then sift together
and then add in smaller amounts to the above mixture
4 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp cloves (smells
wonderful)!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------E. Add 2 cups of chopped walnuts, if desired
F. Drop by teaspoons
on oiled cookie sheet. Bake at 375 F for 12 minutes, then cool.
